Regime forces renew attacks on Jabal Al-Zawiyah villages, while Turkish F-16 fighter target regime jet over Idlib
SOHR sources say that clashes erupted between regime forces and loyalists on one hand, and opposition factions and jihadis on the other, following renewed attacks by the Syrian regime on Sfuhen and Al-Fterah villages in jabal Al-Zawiyah, south of Idlib. The clashes are accompanied by exchange intensive rocket fire, amid Turkish air support in an attempt to repel the regime forces’ attack.
On the other hand, fierce clashes are taking place in Trenbeh area, west of Saraqeb city, and in Afes area in the city’s north-western part. The clashes coincide with Russian aerial bombardment on positions of the factions, and Turkish aerial and ground bombardment of regime positions.
Separately, SOHR activists have reported that a Turkish F-16 fighter in Turkey’s airspace targeted a regime jet while flying over Idlib. It is not known whether the regime jet has been hit or not.
Hours ago, SOHR activists documented the killing of nine regime soldiers and loyalists in attacks by Turkish drones on regime positions and military posts in Saraqeb city and countryside, east of Idlib.
On the other hand, reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that Russian military police withdrew from Saraqeb, since they entered the city yesterday. According to SOHR sources, the Russians objected to yesterday’s attack by regime-backed militias, believed to be Iranians or of the Lebanese Hezbollah, on Turkish troops nearby Saraqeb.
Meanwhile, Turkish intensive artillery fire and drones attacks paved the way for opposition factions and jihadi groups to unleash fierce attack on areas nearby Saraqeb city east of Idlib. The clashes are concentrated in Trenbeh area, west of Saraqeb, and nearby Afes area, north of the city.
Separately, fierce clashes are underway between regime forces and opposition factions , in Al-Ankawi and Sarmaniyah in Sahl Al-Ghab, in a bid by Syrian regime to advance into the area. Confirmed information has received about fall of fatalities among both warring forces.
