Russian delegation arrives in Daraa’s Tafas to monitor reconciliation deals progress

Daraa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: reliable SOHR sources say that a Russian delegation arrived in Tafas city in the western countryside of Daraa this morning, in order to check the city’s security situation. The delegation met with civilians and personnel relevant of tracking the security situation in the city. It also met with people who had have their security situations settled with regime forces and struck reconciliation deals.

This visit comes after the recent tension in the city following repeated attacks of “Al-Tablin” checkpoint and areas around Tafas city.

On the other hand, SOHR activists suggested that the regime intelligence was the party that carried out these attacks on checkpoint of regime forces, so that reconciliation agreement would be implemented and the remaining weapons in possession of opposition factions would be handed over.

On March 10, SOHR sources reported seeing regime forces bringing military reinforcement to the vicinity of Jasim city ‎ in rural Daraa. The regime forces also put heavy artillery pieces on the hills of Metweq and Om Horan.

Observatory sources reported days ago that tens of dignitaries from Jasim city ‎and its countryside were summoned. According to SOHR sources, regime forces have requested the weapons in the area to be handed over.

The dignitaries proposed giving a time limit of ten days‎, during which the weapons to be handed over or regime forces storm the city.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored on the 2nd of March ‎2020 that 21 people from al-Sanamin city and ‎those who refused the new settlement with the ‎regime forces by Russian mediation; have been displaced to northwestern Syria, and those wishing to stay had their ‎situation settled‎.‎

It worth mentioning that al-Sanamin city did not ‎enter a reconciliation and situation settlement ‎‎of the opposition faction fighters‎ before, ‎because the regime forces controlled it before ‎the beginning of the reconciliation deals.‎
