New IED explosion rocks Damascus’s Al-Dahalil leaving civilian dead

SOHR sources have reported that a new explosion rocked the capital Damascus early this morning. The explosion was caused by detonating an IED in a car near the junction in Al-Dahalil area in Damascus.

The car driver died affected by his critical wounded, just after arriving at hospital. The Identity of the victim has yet to be known, but it is suggested that he is a military figure.

Ten days ago, reliable sources informed SOHR that members of the regime’s “State Security branch” in Damascus installed a new checkpoint in Al-Fahama area, on Nahr Aysha – Al-Baramikah highway. Another checkpoint was installed in Al-Ghawwas neighborhood.

These developments coincide with tightening security procedures by regime security checkpoints throughout the capital Damascus on all passers-by, after the recent detonations in the city.

Over February 2020, the capital Damascus saw unprecedented security chaos since the Syrian regime recovered the entire city. SOHR activists documented six explosions in Damascus during the period between the 7th and 25th of February. All explosions were caused by detonating IEDs in vehicles, which killed five persons while 15 others sustained various injuries.
