HTS members loot copper cables in western rural Idlib

SOHR sources say that members of “Tahrir Al-Sham” and other factions have dug up part of the road between the towns of Badama and Al-Hamboushia, west of Idlib, in order to extract copper cables and landline phone wires.

On April 5, SOHR sources reported that members of HTS and other factions looted a number of houses in the town of Ma’arat al-Na’asan in Idlib countryside, stealing motorcycles, copper cables, agricultural equipment, a bakery, the contents of the town’s clinic and the local council.

On April 3, Reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory that what was left of Zayzun thermal power went up for a public auction by HTS to scrap dealers in Idlib.

On the other hand, members of the Turkistan Islamic Party are still digging and extracting metal pipes from Sahl al-Ghab area in Hama countryside near the administrative border with Idlib province.

Residents of the area have complained to HTS and the “Salvation Government”, which responded by issuing a statement condemning these actions and subsequent sabotaging of the irrigation project, which farmers rely on for watering their land.

HTS dismantled what was left of the textile factory in Idlib. No further information as to whether it was an individual act by the members or otherwise.
