400 displaced families suffer shortage of humanitarian assistance in Tal Al-Baya’a camp in rural Raqqa

The economic conditions of families in Al-Baya’a camp are dramatically worsening, especially after imposing quarantine in the “Self-Administration” areas.

The camp is located three km east of Raqqa city near the archaeological cemetery of Tal Al-Baya’a, it is home to some 400 displaced families from Albu Kamal and Ma’adan in rural Deir ez-Zor, Ma’adan and Zor Shummar in rural Raqqa.

The camp suffers shortage of services and humanitarian assistance. The “Health” and “Social Affairs and Labour” committees of Al-Raqqa civil council are conducting periodic vaccination campaigns against seasonal diseases, most notably polio, measles and smallpox, as well as providing the camp with drinking water tanks, prefabricated baths and distributing vouchers in cooperation with relief organizations.

Displaced families in Tal Al-Baya’a camp appeal to the concerned authorities and international organizations to improve living conditions in the camp and provide more food assistance, especially after imposing the quarantine and suspension of work. Most heads of household are daily paid workers, such as porters and construction workers.
