Local initiatives in Al-Raqqa to help affected families are set up as quarantine enters third week

Residents of Al-Raqqah province are living in tragic conditions after imposing the quarantine on citizens, which has entered its third week.

City’s residents stayed indoors in the past few days, while the poor class, workers and low-income people in the city were negatively affected by the quarantine.

The imposing of quarantine has created an exceptional situation. The number of families in need, particularly heads of households with daily income, such as construction workers, carpenters, porters and blacksmiths, who are daily paid to meet the needs of their families, has increased.

On the other hand, residents of Al-Raqqa those of high-income persons and merchants participated in the assistance of families in needs through local and joint initiatives to donate everything these families need, such as water, food, medicine, medical expenses and money to cover the expenses of these families during the quarantine period.

In partnership with the municipality of “Al-Shaab” in Al-Raqqa, a charity has distributed food baskets and monthly cash and paid surgical bills for critical conditions in private hospitals.

Several other relief associations and teams have distributed medicines to persons with chronic diseases as well as children’s medicines, in addition to donations from abroad and cash distribution.

The relief office of Al-Raqqa civil council and humanitarian organizations are targeting the most vulnerable families, while the economic damage affected all families in areas where the quarantine is imposed.
