Smuggling to regime-held areas continues in Deir Ezzor despite precautionary measures by SDF to ward off coronavirus

Reliable sources have reported that smuggling is still continuing from SDF-held areas to other areas controlled by the Syrian regime in Deir Ezzor, via river crossings between the SDF-held town of Al-Shuhayl and the regime-held town of Baqrus.

All precautionary measures by SDF have failed to stop such smuggling operations, specially with the spread of the novel coronavirus in regime-held areas.

SOHR activists have confirmed that these smuggling operations have triggered widespread resentment among people who are fear that SDF-held areas may catch infection.

SOHR camera filmed videos documenting these ongoing smuggling operations, one of which showed cement being transported from regime-held areas to SDF-held areas, via ferries, while other trucks carrying barley are awaiting to be taken to regime-held areas.
