Clashes among Turkish-backed factions leaving many injured, north of Aleppo

SOHR sources say that clashes erupted between factions belonging to the “National Army” in the area of Jandiras in Afrin, north of Aleppo, leaving injuries among both sides.

On April 11, Reliable sources informed SOHR that Turkish forces installed the Turkish flag in the same place where the mural of Abdullah Öcalan, the head of Kurdistan Workers’ Party, had been constructed, at the base of Mount Darmaq in the northern countryside of Afrin.

Öcalan’s mural was destroyed after being bombed by Turkish jets, during the military operation “Olive Branch” in early February 2018.

In June 2018, the Turkish-backed faction of “Sultan Murad” operating under the banner of the “National Army” placed a picture of the Turkish president, Receb Tayyip Erdogan, with the Turkish flag behind him, instead of Öcalan’s mural. The Turkish-backed faction wrote “Presented by Sultan Murad Division” under Erdogan’s picture.
