Russian forces mediate to retrieve bodies of two SDF members, while the death toll of Zarkan’s clashes rises to nine

Reliable sources have told SOHR that two SDF members were killed while carrying out a failed infiltration attempt into a Turkish checkpoint in Bab al-Faraj near the town of Abu Rassin in Al-Hasakeh countryside. SOHR sources added that the bodies of SDF members were held by Turkish-backed factions.

Exchange of fire took place in the area between Turkish forces and proxy factions on one side, and SDF on the other.

In the meantime, Russian forces were able to mediate with the Turks and recover their bodies this evening.

On April 16, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented the killing of seven members of Turkish-backed factions during the clashes on Friday morning.

Syrian Observatory activists reported that Turkish forces and their proxies fired many rockets in the early hours of Friday morning, targeting the villages of Dada Abdal, Bab Al-Faraj and other villages in the countryside of Abu Rasin (Zarkan), north of Al-Hasakah.

The shelling caused material damage to civilian properties but no casualties were reported.

It is noteworthy that most of the targeted villages’ residents have been displaced due to repeated shelling by Turkish forces and their proxies.
