SOHR and media pressure forces Turkish intelligence into releasing prominent head of tribe
Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that Turkish intelligence has released (Sheikh Onaizan) who is one of the most prominent tribe elders in Al-Raqqah province, less than 24 hours after arresting him in Mushayrifat Al-Sheikh Ahmed in Tal Abyad countryside.
For his part, the Sheikh has thanked media outlets which participated in exerting pressure on Turkish authorities to release him. According to the Sheikh, Turkish forces accused him of dealing with Syria Democratic Forces, and he responded to these allegations saying that he had no ties with SDF or any other parties.
It is noteworthy that SOHR and other media outlets have exerted pressure attempting to force Turkish authorities to release the old Sheikh.
SOHR sources reported yesterday that Turkish armored vehicles with members of Turkish-backed military police stormed Mushirfeh Al-Sheikh Ahmed village in rural Tal Abyad, arresting a Sheikh of of Al-Nu’aym tribe for belonging previously to the “Tribal Council” of SDF, while his fate remained unknown to date.
