Treasury ministry “Bayt al-Mal” of HTS imposes $500 levy on shops in Sarmada city
Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Haya’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) imposed today an amount of $ 500 as an annual tax on the owners of shops on the main street in the city of Sarmada, north of Idlib, in support of “Bayt al-Mal of Muslims”, the Treasury ministry of HTS.
The city of Sarmada is a commercial center for the areas of north-western Syria, due to its proximity to Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey, as well as its proximity to the areas held by Turkish-backed factions in northern Aleppo.
Sarmada has hundreds of large shops, importing companies and exchange offices. The annual tax was imposed on over 600 shops.
This increases The Liberation of Damascus’s tax revenues in Sarmada alone by more than US$300,000.
HTS’ tax revenues have increased by more than $300,000, in Sarmada alone.
