Turkey’s demographic change in NE Syria continues, and SOHR renew its appeals to residents not to leave their areas

Turkish forces and their proxies still continue following systematic practices to  push the remaining residents in areas under control of “Peace Spring” factions out of  their areas, just like what happens in Afrin.

Turkey seeks to bring about demographic change in north-eastern Syria, since families from eastern Ghouta and other Syrian areas are being housed in several areas in Al-Raqqah and Al-Hasakah captured recently by Turkish forces and proxies, replacing the civilians who have forced to flee.

On the other hand, kidnappings and arbitrary arrests still continue targeting residents, both Kurds and Arabs, in areas under control of “Peace Spring and Olive Branch” factions. In Tal Abyad, just one of so many examples, Turkish-backed factions continue their arbitrary practices, although the city is inhabited mostly by Arabs.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has repeatedly warned against such practices, and calls upon the residents not to leave their areas. SOHR also renews appeals to the international community to grant more attention to the issue of demographic change in NE Syria.
