Armed fight among Turkish-backed factions leaves casualties in north-eastern Aleppo

Aleppo Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: fierce clashes erupted yesterday near Abu Al-Zendayn crossing in Al-Bab city in the north-eastern countryside of Aleppo, among armed groups affiliated to the Turkish-backed division “Sultan Murad”.

Observatory activists have documented the death of a members at a nearby checkpoint due to clashes with another group of “Sultan Murad”.

The armed fight, which lasted until the early hours of Sunday morning, left many injured. After these bloody actions, a commander of “Sultan Murad” has interfered with a group of the same faction to contain the situation, while tension is on the rise.

Yesterday, SOHR sources monitored clashes with machineguns near the youth residential complex in Al-Bab city, among groups of Turkish-backed faction of “Sultan Murad”.

The clashes left at least one member injured, while members of Turkish-backed factions were on high alert near Abu Al-Zindin crossing.

On April 18, Syrian Observatory sources reported that Turkish-backed factions are continuing to smuggle goods to SDF-held areas, since nearly 20 trucks carrying goods and foodstuffs have crossed Awn Al-Dadat crossing into Manbij city.

The area on the border with the SDF-held areas, is under control of “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” and the First and Ninth Divisions, while “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyyah” supervises the deals of bringing in fuel to areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions in northern Aleppo via Awn Al-Dadat crossing.

The region also experiences smuggling of people from regime-held areas to Turkey, after crossing through areas under control of these factions.
