Worsening Economy | Astronomical prices and currency plunge .. new economic crisis threatens Syrians

Syrian pound continues plummeting against foreign currency in the black market, especially the U.S. dollar.

According to SOHR activists, the Syrian pound against the US dollar recorded 1,430 SYL today, Tuesday, in areas under the control of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham and opposition factions in northern Syria.

While in regime-held areas, the Syrian pound against the US dollar recorded 1,365 SYL.

The currency’s plunge coincides with the unprecedented increase in foodstuffs throughout Syria, in addition to the shortage of many staples and essential products in markets or being monopolized by war lords. All of these developments put additional load on the Syrians and deepen their sufferings. Meanwhile, widespread popular discontent grows throughout Syria, but to no avail.
