Ceasefire violations | regime and rebels trade fire in eastern Idlib

Syrian Observatory sources say that clashes with medium weapons erupted in the early hours of Wednesday morning between regime forces and opposition factions, on Afes frontline in Saraqeb countryside east of Idlib. Otherwise, cautious calm is prevailing throughout the “de-escalation zone” on the 62nd consecutive day of the new ceasefire.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that Turkish forces erected soil barriers in the area separating rebels-held areas from areas under the control of regime forces in the village of Afes in rural Idlib. Meanwhile, regime forces stationed at Al-Dweir checkpoint, north of Saraqeb have targeted a Turkish wheel loader with an anti-tank missile, which destroyed it.

Turkish forces have sent another wheel loader in order to pull out the first one, but again, regime forces targeted the new wheel loader with an anti-tank missile which destroyed it and killed one person, while the drivers of the two wheel loader sustained serious injuries. It remained unclear whether the casualties were Turkish soldiers or of the Turkish-backed Syrian proxies.
