Blackmailing | Unknown assailants throw stun grenade at house of civilian in rural Deir ez-Zor
Deir ez-Zor province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:
SOHR sources say that unknown assailants threw a stun grenade today at the home of a civilian in the city of Al-Busayrah, days after unknown assailants demanded him pay Zakat to the Islamic State.
The group’s members are blackmailing civilians to collect money, while others are using the same approach of the group’s members for stealing.
Reliable sources have informed SOHR that Syria Democratic Forces have arrested one of their members in Al-Busayrah city in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The SDF member was arrested for various charges, including thefts, narcotics trafficking, and blackmailing locals by collecting money from them after accusing them of belonging to ISIS and arresting them.
Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that Syria Democratic Forces launched a new security campaign, targeting individuals responsible for looting and thefts in Al-Busayrah city in eastern Deir Ezzor. SDF special forces stormed houses of ten indicted people, where they arrested five persons (brothers of the indicted) and confiscated mobile phones.
According to SOHR sources, SDF did not arrest any of the wanted suspects, as they managed to escape before the campaign started. The indicted fugitives had been informed of the timing of the campaign.
