Escalating tension in Daraa | unknown assailants attack 5th Corps convoy

Syrian Observatory sources say that unknown gunmen opened fire of their machineguns on a convoy of the Russian-backed 5th Corps, in Al-Shajarah town in the western countryside of Daraa. According to reliable SOHR sources, the targeted forces were getting prepared to storm Al-Muzayrib town. No further details have been reported yet about the amount of human losses.

Yesterday, SOHR sources monitored public concerns prevailing in rural Daraa of launching a military operation, following the arrival of regime’s military build-ups in several areas.

Regime forces have brought in 50 vehicles carrying soldiers with heavy machine guns aboard, to Sheikh Miskine, Tal al-Khidir and Sheikh Sa’ad.

Some 100 infantry soldiers have also set off from Taseel town to Sheikh Sa’ad.

Observatory activists reported earlier that morning seeing regime forces and loyalists bringing in large military reinforcement to Al-Yadudah town and Tal Al-Khudor, adjacent to Daraa city to the western flank. Reports suggested that regime forces intend to storm Al-Muzayrib town, in order to arrest the former opposition commander, who killed nine regime affiliates on Monday.

The commander in question supposed to be handed over by the area’s dignitaries, with Russian mediation. However, the commander still hiding.

On the other hand, regime forces brought in other military reinforcement to the 52nd Brigade and the 38th Brigade, east of Daraa city, for the purpose of boosting their posts and positions in the wake of escalating assassinations there.
