Popular discontent in Afrin | Armed fight leaves many injured among the factions

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored the ongoing tension between Turkish-backed factions, after military police checkpoints being deployed in the city of Afrin and cutting off the roads, while smoke plumes rose after setting rubber tires on fire.

On the other hand, “Ahrar al-Sham” members have tried to arrest an officer of the “National Army” from his home

The clashes left many members of Turkish-backed factions injured, and triggered panic and fear among civilians and children as a result of shooting at nearby houses.

SOHR sources have reported that military reinforcement of “Ahrar Al-Sham” arrived this evening at the city of Afrin from the area of Jandiras, amid ongoing violent clashes with military police and “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah” in Al-Ashrafieh neighbourhood in the city of Afrin.

Medium weapons and 12.7 mm caliber artillery were used in the clashes. Meanwhile, Turkish-backed factions have cut off roads leading to the city of Afrin to prevent feuding factions’ reinforcement from entering.

On the other hand, “Ahrar al-Sham” has besieged several headquarters of military police and “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah” in the city of Afrin and countryside.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored clashes with machine guns between “Ahrar al-Sham” members and others from “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiyah”, in Al-Ashrafieh neighbourhood in Afrin city center. No casualties have been reported.
