Syria intercepted a missile attack from Israel

Syrian state news agency SANA reported on Wednesday that its air defense system intercepted Israeli missiles targeting a research facility in the northern Syrian province of Aleppo.

SANA cited a military source as saying that the Israeli missile attack was aimed at the Scientific Research Center in the Al-Safira region, southeast of Aleppo city in Aleppo province. According to the source, Syrian radars have detected Israeli aircraft firing missiles at several military warehouses and air defense systems that intercepted the missiles. The Israeli military has yet to comment on the information.

Meanwhile, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said Israeli missile strikes targeting the Scientific Research Center located in defense factories in Sfaira destroyed a number of militia arsenal in this area. There have been no reports of casualties yet.

Israel has carried out many missile strikes since the war in Syria in 2011, declaring the target to be the positions of Iranian forces in Syria. The Tel Aviv administration said the presence of Iranian forces supporting the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was “a threat” to Israel.
