ISIS resurgence | 16 attacks in Ramadan leaves nearly 30 persons dead in areas under control of regime and SDF

ISIS continues its activities throughout Syria targeting regime forces and their loyal Syrian and foreign militiamen in the Syrian desert, as well as Syria Democratic Forces in eastern Euphrates region.

Neither SDF and International Coalition security campaigns in eastern Euphrates nor the large reinforcement brought in recently by the Iranians and regime forces to the desert have been able to contain ISIS’ growing activities and attacks.

Since early Ramadan, the Syrian Observatory for Human Right has documented 16 attacks by ISIS members and cells, from detonations, executions, surprising attacks to ambushes,  averaging one attack per day.

In SDF-held areas, SOHR activists have documented nearly 11 attacks by ISIS since the beginning of Ramadan. The attacks concentrated in cities and towns of the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. These attacks left five SDF members dead, in addition to the killing of an official who was in charge of fuel in SADCOP (Storing and Distributing Co., Petroleum Products) which is affiliated to Deir Ezzor Civil Council, and another person was escorting him. While many other civilians and SDF members sustained injures.

Observatory activists also documented five other ISIS attacks in areas under the control of regime forces and loyalists during the same period. These attacks concentrated in the desert of Deir Ezzor and Homs, leaving 21 regime soldiers and loyal militiamen dead.
