New uprising | People demonstrate in Daraa after recent intensive military movements by regime forces

Daraa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: escalating tension and widespread popular resentment are prevailing throughout Daraa province in the wake of large military build-ups brought recently by regime forces, in preparations for launching a large-scale military operation in the incoming hours or days.

The popular resentment in Daraa has evolved to a new uprising against the Syrian regime, as demonstrations went out in Daraa Al-Balad in Daraa city and Tafas city in the western countryside in which the protesters chanted “long live Syria and down with Bashar Al-Assad.”

Syrian Observatory sources reported last night that a mass demonstration went out in the streets of Tafas city in Daraa countryside. The demonstrators chanted anti-regime slogans, as regime forces still bringing in military reinforcement and sectarian militias into the area, preparing for a full incursion into the southern region.

In the past few days, Observatory sources monitored large military build-ups of regime forces and loyalists in Daraa countryside.

Regime forces brought in new military reinforcement to Al-Sheikh Miskin, Al-Sheikh Sa’ad, Tal Al-Khudor, Al-Sarw checkpoint, Ataman and Al-Yadoudah in the western countryside of Daraa.

Meanwhile, tension was prevailing in Al-Muzayrib, amid popular concern of a looming military operation by regime forces, in order to arrest former opposition commander who killed nine regime affiliates a few days ago.

Furthermore, regime forces brought in more military reinforcement to the 52nd and the 38th Brigades, east of Daraa, in order to fortify their positions after assassinations escalated dramatically there.
