Looming military operation | Mass displacement from western countryside of Daraa, while tension escalating

Daraa Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: anti-regime demonstrations continued in towns and villages of Daraa province till late at night, as a part of obvious popular rejection of regime military build-up and the military reinforcement brought in daily to Daraa. These demonstrations come at a time when the Syrian regime continue massing its forces in several areas the most prominent of which is the western countryside.

Meanwhile, every regime build-up in an area of Daraa is met with demonstrations opposing the Syrian regime’s insistence on resorting to military solution and its ongoing threat to storm towns and cities there.

People fear of a regime military action to be carried out in their areas, like what happened earlier in Al-Sanamayn and other areas, which will put their safety and sources of income at risk, especially with the ongoing currency plunge.

Reliable SOHR sources have confirmed that Tafas and Al-Muzayrib towns and other village experience mass displacement of civilians to other areas, for fear of launching a military operation by regime forces in the western countryside of Daraa.

Yesterday, SOHR sources reported that regime forces continued military build-up in Daraa province, disregarding the demonstrations and widespread popular resentment.

New military reinforcement were brought in to Abtaa in northern Daraa, at a time when a military column, including heavy gears, arrived at the bridge of Kherbet Ghazalah.

Another military column entered Al-Panorama area in Daraa Al-Mahattah in Daraa city. According to SOHR sources, this column was escorted with Russian military vehicles.
