Tal Tamer | Turkish-backed Factions set agricultural crops on fire in countryside, only few kilometers from SDF-controlled areas

The Syrian Observatory has monitored fires in agricultural crops in areas controlled by Turkish-backed factions in Tal Tamer countryside. Wheat and barley crops were set on fire in the village of Al-Aziziya, spreading to Al-Rihaniyah, near SDF-controlled areas.

Observatory sources added that these arson attacks are being carried out by Turkish-backed factions to make the fires spread to nearby SDF-controlled areas, and due to the impossibility to harvest the crops near SDF posts, which are less than three km away.

The dispute on sharing these crops continues between “Ahrar al-Sharqiya”, “Al-Rahman Corps”, “Sultan Murad” and “al-Mutassim Division”, while differences and feud among them are likely to be the cause of these fires.

On May 10, SOHR activists reported that Turkish-backed factions looted agricultural crops belonging to civilians in the villages of Bu’ayrir, Qasemiyah and Mahmoudiyah in the area between Abu Rasin (Zarkan) and Tal Tamr in rural Al-Hasakah.

These practices come as a part of violations by Turkish-backed factions against the remaining residents of these areas through stealing and looting their properties and sources of income.
