SDF violations | Members seize school and turn it into military headquarters in rural Deir ez-Zor

SOHR sources say that SDF seized Al-Yarmouk school in the town of Garanij in Deir ez-Zor countryside, turning it into a military headquarters for their forces.

On 12 May, Garanij’s Office of Education issued a letter to those concerned, explaining the need for its reopening, and complaining that military forces had taken over the school, which provides education to more than 500 students.

It is worth nothing that “Furatuna” organization working in the area of Sha’itat in Deir ez-Zor countryside restored the school after parts of it were destroyed earlier.

In April, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitored the seizure of a school by the SDF in the village of Al-Hawaij in Deir ez-Zor countryside. The school was attacked several times by unidentified gunmen in the area.
