Idlib | HTS arrests commander of eastern Ghouta factions for unknown reasons

Reliable sources have told SOHR that a security group of Hayyaat Tahrir Al-Sham arrested a commander of one of the factions which used to operate in eastern Ghouta. According to SOHR sources, HTS arrested the commander during seclusion in a mosque in Kafriya town north-east of Idlib. The reasons behind arresting the commander have yet to be known, amid tension growing in the area.

A few days ago, SOHR sources reported that a group of members of the radical factions beat and humiliated a muezzin (the person appointed at a mosque to recite the call to prayer) in Jisr al-Shughour area, west of Idlib. The attackers humiliated the muezzin in front of his family and children and stepped on his head in a scene similar to those practices committed by the Syrian regime’s security forces.

According to Observatory sources, the radical groups are prohibiting “heresy” and punishing for practicing it. The muezzin was accused of “adding suspense” before reciting the call to dawn prayer in Ramadan.
