Unidentified aircraft strikes M’eizileh base in rural Deir Ezzor, killing seven Iranian-backed militiamen

Reliable sources have informed the Syrian Observatory that unidentified aircraft targeted M’eizileh base which is under the control of Iranian forces and Iranian-backed militias in Al-Bokamal countryside near Iraq-Syria border.

The attack, which took place yesterday at 10:30, came a few days after military reinforcement was brought into a base from the 47th brigade affiliated to the Iranian-backed militias. The same militia has headquarters in Al-Bokamal and Al-Hirri.

According to SOHR sources, the attack killed seven Iranian-backed militiamen and resulted in destruction of the headquarters inside the base. The death toll is expected to rise because of the serious injuries of some casualties.

On May 5, Observatory activists documented the killing of 14 Iranian and Iraqi militiamen due to Israeli airstrikes on positions of Iranian forces and Iranian-backed militias in the deserts of Al-Quriyah, Al-Salihyah and Al-Mayadin in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
