ISIS prisoners riot | “Al-Asayish” clashes with cells in Al-Tabqa city

SOHR sources say that a violent attack carried out by Islamic State cells this evening, targeting a security checkpoint of “Al-Asaish” forces at al-Alam roundabout in the city of Al-Tabqa in rural Al-Raqqa. Meanwhile, all the roads in the city were cut off and all forces affiliated with SDF were on high alert in the area.

Observatory sources added that prisoners of the Islamic State are carrying out a riot inside al-Tabqa prison near the site of the clashes. No casualties have been reported yet.

A similar riot took place in Hasakeh on May 3, as special forces and anti-terrorist forces of SDF intervened to stop a riot by ISIS members inside Al-Sina’a prison in Guiran neighbourhood in Al-Hasakeh.

Hours after it started, the riot was ended by holding joint negotiations between SDF representatives and Coalition forces on the one hand and ISIS prisoners on the other.

The group’s prisoners had ripped off the doors of dormitories and corridors before the SDF regained control of the prison.
