Drone attacks | Three IRGC members killed in airstrikes in Al-Mayadeen desert

Reliable sources have told SOHR that a vehicle affiliated to the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) exploded this dawn in Al-Mayadeen desert in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The explosion resulted in the killing of three IRGC members who was traveling in the vehicle.

SOHR sources suggest that the explosion was caused by a drone attack, since the upper part of the vehicle has had more damage than the lower part.

On May 17, Observatory sources confirmed that unidentified aircraft targeted M’eizileh base which is under the control of Iranian forces and Iranian-backed militias in Al-Bokamal countryside near Iraq-Syria border.

The attack, which took place on Saturday at 22:30, came a few days after bringing in military reinforcement to the base from the 47th brigade affiliated to the Iranian-backed militias. The same militias has headquarters in Al-Bokamal and Al-Hirri.

According to SOHR sources, the attack killed seven Iranian-backed militiamen and resulted in destruction of headquarters inside the base. The death toll is expected to rise because of the serious injuries of some casualties.
