Dispute between Russian forces and SDF over mechanism of action on M4, as commercial movement escalates

SOHR sources have confirmed that a dispute flared up Russian forces and Syria Democratic Forces over the working mechanism for Aleppo-Al-Hasakah international highway (M4), because of the escalating movement of commercial convoys on the highway.

 

According to Observatory sources, the Russians intercepted many commercial trucks and prevented them from using the highway.

 

The Russians have also informed SDF that the highway, which was officially opened three days ago, is mainly for civilian cars traffic and only specific number of trucks will be allowed to pass.

 

SOHR sources monitored yesterday convoys of civilian cars and commercial trucks passing on the Aleppo-Al-Hasakeh highway.

 

Commercial vehicles entered from crossings in the regime-controlled areas in eastern Aleppo countryside, passing by Al-Raqqa province to Al-Hasakah and vice versa. While civilian vehicles have passed on the road which passes in areas under the control of the ” Autonomous Administration”.

 

According to Observatory sources, Russian military vehicles escorted oil trucks belonging to the company of al-Qatirji traveling on the “M4” road, while a dispute occurred between Russian forces and SDF because of the passage of these trucks.
