“De-escalation zone” | Shelling and clashes renew in Jabal Al-Zawiyah, while Russian jets flying over Idlib

Syrian Observatory sources say that regime forces fired several rockets in the early hours of Monday morning, targeting places in Al-Ftera, Banin and Al-Rowayha in Jabal Al-Zawiyah in the southern countryside of Idlib.

On the other hand, clashes erupted between regime forces and opposition factions in Al-Fterah area in southern Idlib. No casualties have been reported.

Meanwhile, Russian jets were seen flying over Idlib province on the ceasefire’s 88th consecutive day in the “de-escalation zone”.

Yesterday, SOHR sources monitored renewed clashes between opposition factions and jihadist groups on one hand, and regime forces and loyalists on the other, in an attempt by regime forces to advance in Jabal al-Zawiyah.

The clashes, which were accompanied by intensive shelling, concentrated on Binin frontline leaving casualties on both sides. It is worth nothing that regime forces stepped up their attacks in the past few days, especially in Jabal al-Zawiya, amid popular fear of returning to military operations in the “de-escalation zone”.
