Idlib | HTS fine farmer after accusing them of stealing zakat money, amid disputes with “Huras Al-Din” over money sharing

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored today a security tension between members of Tahrir Al-Sham and others of Huras al-Din faction, following the arrest of a member of Huras al-Din by HTS and referred it to the Court of Jisr al-Shughour, while he was collecting “zakat money” under the pretext of supporting the workers in erecting soil barriers. Meanwhile, members of Huras al-Din went to the outpost to remove him by force.

On the other hand, members of Jisr al-Shughour’s outpost imposed a sum of 50,000 Syrian pounds levy in addition to a bag of grain on a farmer from Jisr al-Shughour countryside, after he refused to give them “zakat”. The farmer accused HTS of stealing farmers’ crops from oil, grain and others, and imposing illegal taxes on the citizens who cannot afford to pay such amounts.

Moreover, Jisr al-Shughour’s police station sent its members to arrest the farmer who managed to escape, while the elders and dignitaries of the area intervened to fine the farmer instead of imprisoning him.
