Wheat harvest season | “Salvation Government” speculate on “Interim Government”, adding $20 extra on the purchase price of wheat per ton

The Salvation government has set the purchase price of wheat from farmers after a meeting between the prime minister and its affiliates. It has decided to buy wheat from farmers at $240 per ton of first type of pure hard wheat.

Therefore, the Salvation Government added $20 extra per ton higher than the purchase price set by the “Interim Government”.

Different Syrian areas are witnessing a growing competition in purchasing the crop of wheat from farmers, with an increase in the exchange rate of the U.S. dollar and the closure of crossings linking those areas.

On the other hand, the “Syrian Interim Government” has set the purchase price of wheat for this season in its areas of control at $220 per ton of high quality pure hard wheat and $210 per ton of high quality pure soft wheat, after considering production costs for farmers.

A statement issued by the “Interim Government” indicated that it would continue to buy wheat during the current year.

The State Grain Corporation has allocated centers in Azaz, Marea, Al-Ghandoura and Baza’a in northern Aleppo to buy wheat from farmers at the new prices.

The regime’s Council of Ministers had agreed to raise the purchase price of wheat from farmers for the current season from 225 Syrian pounds to 400 pounds per kilogram. This followed the announcement of “Self-Administration” to raise the purchase price of the wheat crop and set it at 315 Syrian pounds.

The Syrian regime had earlier announced that the purchase price of a kilogram of wheat was set at 225 Syrian pounds.

The Syrian pound has recorded a major plunge against foreign currencies, as the Syrian pound against the US dollar recorded 1,800 SYL

This comes only a few days before “Caesar Act” which was passed by US, and it is expected to come into effect in June.
