ISIS resurgence | 23 regime soldiers and ISIS members killed in fierce clashes and regime airstrikes in Syrian desert

Syrian Observatory sources say that regime jets targeted Al-Rwaydah area in Oqayrabat district in the eastern countryside of Hama with heavy machineguns this evening. The regime airstrikes coincided with ongoing clashes between regime forces and ISIS members in the area.

In connection to this, regime forces and loyalists have killed at least 15 ISIS members and destroyed four vehicles affiliated to the organization.

SOHR sources reported a few hours ago that three members of regime soldiers and loyalists were killed and others wounded, in an attack by ISIS members ob regime positions in al-Rwaydah area, east of Oqayrbat in east Hama countryside.

Meanwhile, ISIS members carried out an attack on a checkpoint belonging to regime forces in the countryside of Al-Sukhnah city in the desert of Homs, killing five regime soldiers.

Reliable sources informed the Syrian Observatory earlier this morning that regime forces and Iranian-backed militias started a new campaign, sweeping the eastern desert of Deir Ezzor, from Al-Mayadeen to Faydat Ibn Muwayni’.

According to SOHR source, several columns headed to the area and started a large-scale sweeping operation, searching for ISIS cells.
