Al-Qamishly | Russian and regime forces deploy in new positions near Syria-Turkey border

Syrian Observatory activists have monitored a military column of 15 vehicles affiliated to Russian and regime forces, including vehicles with submachine gun installed over them, leaving Al-Qamishli city. The column headed towards Al-Qahtaniyah town then to “Deir Ghosn” village from which Russian-Turkish joint patrols are used to setting off.

According to SOHR sources, the column stopped in Derna Aghi village on the Syria-Turkey border, where the Russian and regime forces were stationed in a tent there, claiming that they came to protect the residents from the Turkish repeated attacks while the people harvesting their crops.

On June 13, Observatory activists monitored Russian military vehicles arriving in the western part of Al-Assadiyah area in the eastern countryside of Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye). According to SOHR sources the Russian patrol aimed to explore the area and remove mines there, in order to establish an advanced military post near the frontlines separating SDF-held area from areas under the control of Turkish forces and their proxies. It is worth noting that the Russian forces visit to this area was the first of its kind.
