After nearly 70 days of arbitrary detention | Turkish-backed factions release academician from Afrin

Aleppo Province – The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights:

SOHR sources say that Turkish-backed factions released today academician from Afrin, 70 days after his arrest, after appearing before the court more than once without clear charges against him.

The academician was arrested by military police from the town of Sharan in rural Afrin, where he refused to leave his town, holding on to his land and home. He has a doctorate in civil engineering.

On June 2, SOHR sources said that Turkish-backed factions released a woman who was among the 11 female prisoners who appeared in the video footage, while releasing them from Al-Hamza prison in Afrin and were transferred to Turkish-backed police prisons.

SOHR sources added that the remaining women detainees are supposed to be released in the coming days.
