Growing popular discontent over the lack of flour in bakeries for two days in areas controlled by Autonomous Administration

Reliable SOHR sources have confirmed that widespread popular resentment is growing in areas under the control of “Autonomous Administration in northern and north-eastern Syria”, as work is suspended in the bakeries there since Thursday. According to SOHR sources, the bakeries have not supplied with flour in the past two days, although there is a large tank full of wheat and flour in the area of the Syrian Jazeera.

On June 6, “Autonomous Administration in northern and north-eastern Syria” issued a decree prohibiting the exportation of “wheat” to areas beyond its control. Autonomous Administration threatened to hold violators accountable, through an official statement which stated:

“1- It is prohibited to export wheat to areas beyond the control of the Autonomous Administration in northern and north-eastern Syria and violators will be held accountable. 2- Individuals who are authorized to implement the decree, to be notified.”
