Educational crisis | Idlib University threatens to prevent students from setting exams, for not paying fees

Student sources at Idlib University say that the university administration imposed unfair decisions on students in light of the displacement of people and the current economic conditions endured by the residents of the areas controlled by HTS and the factions.

On the other hand, the university administration announced that students would not be allowed to set exams until after the annual instalment is paid.

Students resent being warned, threatened with dismissal and suspended their exams if they refuse to pay the full amount.

In his testimony to the Syrian Observatory, a displaced student from the town of Khan Sheikhoun said that the teaching staff had sent him warnings of dismissal if he did not pay the full amount.

The educational process continues at Idlib University of the “Salvation Government”, with a pandemic threatening the entire world, while Idlib and related areas are experiencing dire conditions, where poverty, displacement and lack of basic livelihood are combine.

Idlib University was established in early 2015 after the factions took control of Idlib city and countryside, and recaptured from regime forces, and it includes thousands of students without an official recognition of its certificate and does not entitle its holder to any work outside the borders of Idlib.
