The commander of the 8th Brigade of the Russian-backed 5th Corps, Ahmed al-Awda, one of the most prominent figure of “reconciliations and Settlements” with the regime in Daraa province, said that a unified army will soon be formed for the Horan region in southern Syria.

This came during a speech by Al-Awda in a condolence tent for the fighters of the 8th Brigade of the Russian-backed Fifth Corps, who killed days earlier after their bus was targeted by an IED attack.

Ahmed al-Awda said in a video, of which a copy obtained by the Syrian Observatory: “Soon Horan will be one body and one army, and this formation will not only protect Horan, but also will be the most powerful tool to protect Syria.”

On June 20, the Syrian Observatory documented the death of nine members of the Fifth Corps and the injury of 19 others, as an improvised explosive device exploded on the road to the town of Kahil, east of Daraa, targeting a bus of the Fifth Corps, which was formed by Russia and includes former fighters of opposition factions who got their status settled.
