East of Deir ez-Zor | Locals hold vigil demanding improvement of the standard of living and hold corrupt people accountable

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored a vigil by some residents in the village of Abu Hammam, which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, demanding accountability for spoilers, improvement of the living situation and lift taxes and royalties on goods.

People carried banners which read: “We demand putting security guards to reduce the theft of schools – Abu Hammam and Al-Kashkeiya’s teachers demand a real increase in salaries and be pegged to the dollar – we demand that the fate of the detainees be revealed – demanding the lifting of customs and royalties on basic goods and improving the standard of living in both northern and eastern Syria.”
