Growing tension in Rif Dimashq | Skirmishes erupt between ex-fighters and the 4th Division, while regime intelligence arrests ten persons

Rif Dimashq Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: reliable sources have told SOHR that a group of former fighters of Al-Rahman Corps, who had struck reconciliation deals with security services and joined later the regime-backed 4th Division, clashed with members of a checkpoint of the same division on the road between Zamalka and Arbin cities.

Three of those ex-fighters went to the checkpoint and talked to the members stationed there against the backdrop of stealing civilians’ motorcycles by the checkpoint’s members on a daily basis. The talk evolved to altercation then to hand-to-hand fight and clashes with white weapons, which left one of the checkpoint’s members injured after being stabbed several times.

The fight evolved further which pushed the ex-fighters to draw their weapons and aimed them at the members of the checkpoint, before a spiritual figure who mediates reconciliation deals with Syrian regime, a former command in Al-Rahman Corps, intervened and defused the dispute which lasted for hours.

Separately, regime security services carried out a campaign in Al-Naseem neighbourhood in Ain Tarma town, during which they arrested nearly ten young men including former nurses who used to work in field clinics during the factions’ control of the area.
