Tension and military reinforcement in rural Daraa | Clashes erupt between regime forces and 5th Corps, leaving one person dead and several injured

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has monitored today clashes with machine guns between members of the 8th Brigade of the Russian-backed Fifth Corps and members of the regime forces, at one of the regime checkpoints near the town of Mahajeh in north-eastern countryside of Daraa governorate. One members of the fifth corps was killed and others were injured of both sides.

On the other hand, tension prevailed in the area, while a military column of the 8th Brigade headed from Bosra al-Sham to the site of the clashes in the town of Mahajeh. Columns of regime forces also headed to the vicinity of the town.

Observatory sources have reported that five young men were arrested at the entrance to Daraa city by members of the regime forces.

On June 25, SOHR sources confirmed that gunmen of the Russian-backed 5th Corps besieged a checkpoint of the regime’s “Air-Force Intelligence” in Al-Harrak town in eastern Daraa, after intelligence services members stationed at the checkpoint had arrested a civilian from the area. The 5th Corps’ members forced the regime’s intelligence services to release the arrested civilian.
