Demonstrations in Deir Ezzor | People protest the deteriorating security situation, and demand the release of prisoners held in SDF prisons

Syrian Observatory activists have monitored tens of people participating in a demonstration in Gharanij town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The demonstrators called to control the spreading security chaos in the areas of the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The demonstrators also demanded the release of prisoners held in SDF prisons, as they lifted signboards with slogans written on them read “You defend your oil and abandon the innocents – How long will the innocents be slaughtered by masked gangs – Freedom for detainees in SDF prisons”.

 

On June 24, Observatory activists monitored some residents participating in a vigil in the SDF-controlled village of Abu Hamam in eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, calling for holding spoilers accountable, improving the living situation and lifting taxes and royalties on goods.

 

The protesters carried banners with slogans written on them read: “We demand putting security guards to reduce the looting of schools – Abu Hamam and Al-Kashkeiya’s teachers demand a real increase in salaries and be pegged to the dollar – we demand the fate of the detainees be revealed – we call for the lifting of customs and royalties on basic goods and improving the standard of living condition in both northern and eastern Syria.”
