Popular rejection of Russian presence | People prevent the Russians from entering “Derna Aghi” village

Reliable SOHR sources have confirmed that the people of “Derna Aghi” village in the countryside of Al-Qahtaniyyah, north-east of Al-Hasakah province, prevented Russian forces from entering their village. The Russian had to set up a military post in a tent on the outskirts of the village, after they had accomplished a military patrol on the Syria-Turkey border strip.

Observatory sources reported earlier this morning that a large column of Russian forces of tens of vehicles and armoured vehicles headed to “Derna Aghi” village in the countryside of Al-Qahtaniyyah town.

According to SOHR sources, the column set off from Al-Qamishly airbase, while the reasons behind this visit have yet to be known.

On June 17, reliable sources told SOHR that Russian forces, which were stationed a day earlier in Derna Aghi village on the Syria-Turkey border in rural Al-Hasakah, withdrew that morning from the village following broad popular rejection of Russian presence. The village’s people refused the aid provided by the Russians in the previous day, expressing rejection of the presence of Russian forces in their village.
