Protests in SDF-held areas | People of Hajin hold vigil calling for improvement of living condition and fighting corruption

Syrian Observatory activists have monitored tens of people participating in a vigil in front of “Al-Shaab Council” in the SDF-held city of Hajin in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The protesters demanded the improve of living conditions and release of prisoners. They also called for controlling the corruption in SDF local councils.

Yesterday, SOHR activists monitored widespread discontent in areas under the control of the “Autonomous Administration”, as a result of water shortage and power outages and poor service delivery there.

In the meantime, dozens of residents of Tal Hamis participated in a demonstration in Al-Hasakeh countryside, protesting poor living conditions and lack of water and electricity.

Residents of a number of cities east of the Euphrates, including Amuda city in western Al-Qamishli, complained of ongoing power outage for a week from Tishreen dam in the countryside of Raqqah and the “Al-Swaydiyah” station in countryside of Rmilan.

At the same time, Al-Qamishli experienced a shortage in electricity’s operating hours, as generators’ owners asked for high prices.

Similarly, Al-Hasakeh city suffered from power and water outages as the case in all areas controlled by “Autonomous Administration”, as Turkish forces control the “Aluk” water station, which supplies Al-Hasakah city and countryside with drinking water. While the “Autonomous Administration” has been unable to find alternative solutions to ease the suffering of the people in its controlled areas.

In the city of Al-Derbasiya, which experienced further suffering such as bread shortages and the high prices of basic foodstuffs, due to the lack of flour, at a time when “Hattin” mill of the “Autonomous Administration” refrained from supplying flour to the bakeries.

The bakeries’ owners were buying flour from the black market at 23,000 Syrian pounds per bag, which was higher than the price offered by the mill, which amounts to 11,000 Syrian pounds per bag, which led to a rise in the cost and price of the bread bundle from 200 to 500 Syrian pounds with an increase in the number of loaves.

The “Autonomous Administration” in Syria operates power plants on the Euphrates River banks, as well as the plants of Al-Shaddadi and “Al-Swaydiya” in Ramilan countryside, which are running on the fuel. “Autonomous Administration” hides behind repeated failures in power plants and the electricity network.
