Deir ez-Zor: SDF Fighter Assassinated

A fighter of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) was assassinated by unidentified gunmen in Syria’s eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor on Thursday.

Sources told the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) that the armed men, who are suspected to be members of the Islamic State (IS) sleeper cells, opened fire at the SDF fighter in the village of al-Sabha, in Deir ez-Zor.

According to the Britain-based monitoring group, only in the four provinces of Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa, and Hasakah, a total of 534 people, including fighters, civilians, oil workers, and officials in service parties, have been killed over the past months.

Among 176 civilian victims were 14 children and eight women, SOHR added.
