Saqba attack | Explosion targets checkpoint of “military security” injuring regime soldier

Rif Dimashq Province – Syrian Observatory for Human Rights: SOHR activists have reported hearing a loud explosion in Saqba city and surrounding areas in the eastern Ghouta last night. According to SOHR sources, the explosion was caused by the detonation of explosive devices thrown by unknown assailants on a checkpoint affiliated to the regime’s military security in the city, leaving five members of the checkpoint wounded.

After the explosion, sporadic gunfire was heard nearby the checkpoint, but it is not known if it was an armed attack on the checkpoint or caused by regime soldiers themselves for fear of another attack on the checkpoint

It is worth noting that the targeted checkpoint is notorious, as regime members stationed there are used to harassing women and passengers. They also deliberately insult young men while passing through the checkpoint.
