Rival factions | Girl killed in armed fight among “Sultan Murad” groups in Ras Al-Ain (Sere Kaniye)

SOHR activists have documented the killing of a girl due to fierce clashes between groups of the Turkish-backed faction “Sultan Murad” in residential neighbourhoods in Ras Al-Ain city (Sere Kaniye) in north-western Al-Hasakah. The reasons behind this conflict have yet to be known, amid confirmed reports about casualties among the conflicting groups.

On June 25, SOHR sources reported that that clashes broke out among Turkish-backed factions following a dispute over the seizure of “Al-Mashwar” park in Ras al-Ain. The dispute evolved to clashes between members of “Al-Hasakah Shield Brigade” and a group of “Al-Sultan Murad”. Agents of Turkish intelligence intervened to defuse the conflict, but a member of “Al-Hasakah Shield Brigade” refused to obey Turkish intelligence agents and escaped after being shot by a Turkish security agent.
