Israeli military simulates war inside Lebanon

An Israeli newspaper revealed this week that the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) had conducted military exercises in preparation for the war with Lebanon.

According to Channel 7, the Israeli Defense Forces conducted military exercises at the Taslim Base in the Negev Desert region.

The military exercise reportedly simulated a war inside Lebanon, likely against the armed forces of Hezbollah.

The news site said they spoke with an IDF officer from 188th Brigade, who explained that his military forces were training in a possible confrontation with Lebanon, in the middle of a village that seemed to be quite similar to the villages of southern Lebanon.

In its video report, titled “Training the soldiers to fight in Lebanon”, the channel stated that the specially built village resembles southern Lebanese villages, and that the soldiers are firing rocket launchers from tanks on the village buildings.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli 188th Brigade is an armored unit, which was supplied with a large number of new Merkava 4 tanks last year. It is a brigade that is deployed in the northern Israeli region, which is located along the Syrian and Lebanese borders.
