North of Idlib | Venomous snakes and scorpions emerge in border camp areas, as temperature soar to over 40 degrees

Regions in Syria are experiencing a severe heat wave as temperatures in some areas reach more than 40 degrees, causing the emergence of poisonous animals and insects. In addition to the risk of children being exposed to direct sunlight.

There are many poisonous snakes in the camps, most of which were built on the outskirts of villages and in rocky lands which are suitable for snakes.

According to local sources, inhabitants of border camps kill, on a daily basis, snakes and scorpions near their tents. A few days ago a displaced young man was bitten by a poisonous snake in al-Laj camp in Idlib countryside, and residents were able to save his life and give him a venom antiserum in a nearby hospital.

This incident created a state of fear among camp residents, as the venom antiserum is available only in certain hospitals, coinciding with increased temperatures and the entry of these snakes into tents to escape the heat of the sun, which portends a disaster and great risks for displaced people and children.
