Russia’s involvement in Libya war | Russia continues recruiting Syrian mercenaries to safeguard its interests in Libya

Russia is still recruiting Syrians in regime-controlled areas, turning them into “mercenaries”, so that they can catch the military operations in Libya on the side of the “Libyan National Army” led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. Syrian Observatory sources reported that the recruitment operations escalates in Daraa, Al-Suwaidaa, Homs, Hama, Al-Hasakah and Deir Ezzor. Russia offers financial incentives in these areas exploiting the deteriorating living conditions and the worsening economical hardship.

According to SOHR sources, the number of recruits who have arrived in Libya and those who are getting prepared for being transferred there reached 2,700 mercenaries from Al-Raqqah, Homs, Latakia, Al-Hasakah, Al-Suwaidaa and Deir Ezzor. It is worth noting that Russian security companies pay large monthly salaries which reach 1,000 USD for each mercenary.
